How to turn website visits into enquiries

Planning the journey from a visit to an enquiry

More traffic may not solve the problem

Visitors may not need your service or understand how to take the next step. Before investing in traffic, check whether the offer, landing page and contact route tell a coherent story. The goal is a relevant enquiry rather than any form submission.

1. Match the arrival intent

Connect queries and campaigns to their landing pages. Someone seeking a specific solution needs service detail; someone comparing options may need criteria and examples. Avoid sending every visitor to a generic homepage.

2. Make the next step visible

Explain what you can deliver, who it suits and how a proposal is prepared. Use a specific call to action after the information needed to decide. On mobile, check buttons, navigation and email links for overlapping elements.

3. Reduce uncertainty and friction

Ask only for information needed to reply. Keep labels visible and error messages understandable. Explain what happens after an enquiry and offer email as an alternative. Clearly distinguish illustrative examples from real work; invented figures do not build trust.

4. Measure the steps in context

Distinguish contact clicks from confirmed submissions and actual conversations. Clicking an email link does not prove a message was sent. Assess useful enquiries alongside their source where suitable consent and measurement exist. Test one meaningful hypothesis and compare periods; low volume requires cautious conclusions.
